Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how BizSalesGuy (“we,” “our,” “us”) collects, uses, and protects information when you visit our website, subscribe to our communications, or interact with our brokerage services.

1. Who we are

2. Information we collect

We collect information in the following ways:

• Information you provide directly — your name, email address, phone number, business interest preferences (industries, locations, deal-size range), and any messages you send us through our contact, valuation, or alert-signup forms.
• Information from public business correspondence — when you email Eddy at his business address, our contact discovery service (SigParser) extracts your name, role, company, phone, and signature details from the email so we can keep an accurate broker contact list.
• Public listing data from BizBuySell — we aggregate publicly-listed business-for-sale information from BizBuySell. This is data about businesses, not about you.
• Usage data — pages you view, links you click, emails you open, SMS click-throughs, and the device/browser type. We use this only to improve our service.
• Cookies and similar technologies — small files stored in your browser to remember session state and measure site usage. You can disable cookies in your browser settings; some features may not work without them.

3. How we use your information

• Send you the listing alerts (email and SMS) you have opted into.
• Respond to your inquiries about specific businesses for sale or general questions about buying or selling a business.
• Connect you with sellers via BizBuySell’s confidentiality agreement (NDA) flow when you express interest in a listing.
• Send transactional communications (account updates, listing status changes, valuation results) you have requested.
• Improve our website, marketing, and broker services.

We do not sell your personal information to third parties for advertising purposes.

4. Service providers we use

The following third-party services help us operate. Each is contractually limited to processing data only for the purposes described below.

• Mailchimp— email and SMS marketing delivery and engagement analytics. (US)
• Pipedrive— customer relationship management for our broker contact list. (EU/US)
• Supabase— primary database for the BizSalesGuy platform. (US)
• Vercel— website hosting and content delivery. (Global edge network)
• Apify— scraping public BizBuySell listing data. Does not process subscriber data.
• BizBuySell— listing inquiry routing and NDA flow. Inquiries you submit on a listing flow through their platform, governed by their privacy policy in addition to ours.
• SigParser— contact discovery from Eddy’s business email correspondence (signatures only).
• SendGrid— transactional email delivery.
• Anthropic— AI-generated content for listing descriptions and blog posts. We do not send your personal data to Anthropic.

5. SMS marketing

SMS subscribers receive new-listing alerts via text message after opting in. Full terms specific to SMS — including frequency, cost, opt-out instructions, and sample messages — are at our SMS Marketing Terms page. We do not share your phone number with third parties for marketing purposes.

6. Email marketing

You can join our email list by submitting a form on this site or opting in during a listing inquiry. Every marketing email contains an unsubscribe link in the footer; clicking it removes you from our list immediately.

7. Cookies

We use first-party cookies for session state and basic analytics. We do not use third-party advertising cookies. You can control cookies through your browser’s settings.

8. Data retention

We keep contact information as long as you remain an active subscriber or have an active inquiry with us. After 24 months of inactivity (no email opens, no clicks, no inquiries), we remove your information unless you ask us to keep it. You can request deletion at any time — see Section 9.

9. Your rights

Regardless of where you live, you may at any time:

• Access— request a copy of the information we hold about you.
• Correct— ask us to fix anything that is inaccurate.
• Delete— ask us to remove your information from our systems and from our marketing service providers.
• Opt out— unsubscribe from email marketing via the footer link in any email; reply STOP to any SMS to opt out of text marketing.
• Portability— receive your information in a portable, machine-readable format.

California residents have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), including the right to know what personal information we have and the right to non-discrimination for exercising your privacy rights. To exercise any right, email eddy@bizsalesguy.com with your request. We respond within 30 days.

10. Children’s privacy

BizSalesGuy is not intended for users under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If you believe we have inadvertently collected information from a minor, contact us and we will delete it.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Effective” date at the top of the page reflects the current version. For material changes, we will notify active subscribers by email at least 14 days before the change takes effect.
